An appreciation of the present, paired with respect for the past molds my style and play. Have had the privilege of sharing the stage with performers such as Buddy Whittington (blues guitarist) and Sir Earl Toon (Kool and the Gang).

Brian McKenna: Drums

Started at the age of 8 when his mother bought him a drum set. Took a few lessons and learned to read some while playing in the grammar school band. Pretty much self taught. Since 1978 I have always been in some type of band. Growing up in the 70’s I learned a lot of deferent styles of music from rock to pop to Motown. In the early  80’s played in multiple original bands and did many recording sessions. Alester Crowley and band in the early 90’s was the biggest as they had songs played on the radio. The 90’s and 2000’s went back to playing in cover bands. Played all over South Jersey and the Casinos in Atlantic City. Moving to Texas in 2014 I did not have a direction on my music career. Answered an ad for a Journey tribute and as they say the rest history. Having the love for the REO Speedwagon catalog it was a no brainer to start one. 2020 has been a career highlight for me.

Greg Rodenroth: Bass, vocals

A seasoned multi-instrumentalist with roots stretching back to the late ’80s, Greg Rodenroth has built his musical life around the bass. Inspired early on by melodic pocket players like Paul McCartney, Mike Porcaro, and John Deacon, Greg developed a style that blends supportive groove with a deep sense of musicality. His passion for live performance quickly pulled him into the regional scene, where he began gigging relentlessly and refining the warm, song-first approach that defines his playing today.

Greg has spent decades contributing to a wide range of bands across genres. He held down the low end for Sometimes Y in the ’80s and SammIam in the ’90s, bringing his expressive bass lines to both original music and energetic club stages. For 16 years, he expanded his musical footprint even further as both keyboardist and guitarist for Six of the Matter, a long-running ensemble known for its tight musicianship and dynamic setlists. That chapter concluded in 2022, but it left Greg with a deep well of versatility and performance experience.

His connection to REO Speedwagon runs much deeper than musicianship alone. Their catalog formed part of the soundtrack of his youth—songs that blended heartfelt balladry with unapologetic rock and roll. Greg recalls the Wheels Are Turnin’ album as the defining sound of his junior year, a record that showed him how powerful, polished, and emotional rock music could be. Joining an REO Speedwagon tribute band is, for him, both a musical homecoming and an opportunity to celebrate a band whose songs shaped his earliest identity as a player.

Gear-wise, Greg is powered by a deep love for Spector basses, known for their clarity, punch, and expressiveness—qualities that pair perfectly with REO’s melodic but driving bass lines. Running through a Line 6 Helix for effects and amp simulation, he crafts a pocket-driven tone that’s clean, supportive, and always in service of the song. Whether locking in with the drums or adding subtle melodic movement, Greg brings a veteran’s discipline and a lifelong fan’s enthusiasm to every performance.

Thomas Michael: Keyboards, vocals

Thomas Michael is a versatile keyboardist whose musical influences span fusion, Latin jazz, classic rock, and classical music. Raised in a family of musicians, he began studying piano and drums at a young age with the full support of his parents. His musical journey continued into college, where he was surrounded by a vibrant community of players and exposed to legendary artists such as Miles Davis, Chick Corea, and iconic groups like Return to Forever.

Over the years, Thomas has performed with bands honoring the music of Pink Floyd, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, and REO Speedwagon, bringing authenticity, energy, and deep musical respect to every stage. His true passion lies in improvisation and composition, where he combines his diverse influences to create expressive, dynamic performances that connect with audiences.
